Dr. Jonathan Pham is a consultant physician at the Alfred Hospital's Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology (AACI) service. His has expertise in allergic conditions including chronic hives, hay fever, food allergy, angioedema, and anaphylaxis, as well as respiratory diseases -asthma, chronic cough, bronchiectasis, and vocal cord dysfunction. He leads the Complex Airways Clinic at the Alfred Hospital.

Jonathan sees adults and adolescents 14 years or older in this practice.

Jonathan’s research focuses on the origins of allergy and asthma, exploring risk factors like genetics, diet, and obesity. His PhD work earned him the prestigious 2020 NHMRC Gustav Nossal Award, recognising him as the top PhD grant recipient in Australia in the field of clinical medicine and science. Currently, he leads a multidisciplinary research collaboration at the University of Melbourne/Alfred Hospital that aims to improve assessment and management of allergic rhinitis - via aeroallergen mapping, develop biomarkers, and predict allergen sensitisation based on seasonal symptoms.

Jonathan has taken on significant leadership roles both nationally and internationally. He co-authored the National Australian Cough Guidelines (CICADA) and serves as the deputy convenor of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) asthma group. He has published two expert commentaries on the impact of ethnicity and social disparity on respiratory health, in the ERS Monograph and Respirology.

Jonathan is committed to providing empathetic, patient-centred care, recognising that each individual's health journey is unique. He collaborates closely with patients, not only to treat illnesses but also to enhance their overall wellness and quality of life.
